Empowering communities by investing in local talent and inspiring young minds through sport and literature.
At the heart of our Sport Foundation lies a commitment to transforming lives and building stronger communities through the power of sport. Since 2007, we have awarded almost 31,000 athlete grants - totalling more than £17 million - to competitors across Olympic, Paralympic, Commonwealth, Deaflympic and Special Olympic disciplines.
Beyond cash awards, we provide free access to training facilities and specialist services such as sports massage and physiotherapy. With 88 percent of our athletes receiving no other centralised support, and representation in 117 different sports, we work hand-in-hand with SportsAid, SportsAid Wales and the Mary Peters Trust to ensure local talent gets the expertise and encouragement it needs to excel - wherever their sport takes them.
Our Literary Foundation exists to champion new voices and bring stories to life for young readers in Bromley, Greenwich, Wandsworth, Dudley and Lincolnshire. Each year we award up to 20 placements, featuring a £750 bursary, one-to-one guidance from a local librarian mentor, and invaluable networking with booksellers, publishers, literary festivals and schools.
Participants also receive a practical events toolkit and host three author engagements - in schools, in public libraries and online - to build confidence and share their work. Additional on-demand training covers brand identity, marketing and business planning, while access to library business lounges and two annual gatherings with national partners create a supportive community for emerging authors.
