Olympian Athlete Daryll Neita Hosts Event at Home Track in Greenwich
On Monday 13th May team GB sprinter Daryll Neita, an Olympic medallist and one of the nation's leading track and field athletes, hosted a memorable sports day at her home track, Sutcliffe Park Sports Centre in Greenwich for pupils from local primary schools. The event, designed to promote physical activity and inspire the next generation of young athletes, was a resounding success, filled with excitement, learning and fun.
The sports day featured a variety of athletics events, including sprint races, relay races, and throwing challenges. Throughout the day Daryll personally engaged with the children, offering coaching tips, sharing her journey into athleticsand emphasising the importance of dedication, hard work and a positive attitude.
Daryll is a proud supporter of the GLL Sport Foundation and has been an ambassador since 2020. Commenting after the evet she said, “I’m thrilled to have had the opportunity to have hosted this event, seeing their young faces light up with enthusiasm for sport.". "It's incredibly rewarding to give back to the community and inspire the next generation of athletes. I hope today has shown them that with passion and perseverance, they can achieve their dreams."
Teachers and parents praised the event for its organisation and the unique opportunity it provided for the children to interact with an elite athlete. "This was an unforgettable experience for the pupils," said one teacher. "Daryll Neita's presence and encouragement have left a lasting impact on the children. It's wonderful to see them so motivated and excited about sports. We wish her the very best of luck in the Paris Olympics".
The day concluded with a Q&A session, where students eagerly asked Neita about her training routine, her favourite moments in her careerand her tips for aspiring athletes. Each participant received a t-shirt and a signed team GB water bottle as a keepsake to remember the special day.

As she continues to train for this summer’s Olympics in Paris, she remains dedicated to inspiring young people and promoting the benefits of living a healthy and active lifestyle.
