Exciting Beginning for Bedford's Better Leisure Centres

On Saturday, February 3, Bedford Borough Council's leisure centres opened to both members and non-members, featuring a fresh identity under the 'Better' branding.

Bedford Borough Council is working closely with its charitable social enterprise leisure partner and operator GLL (operating facilities under the Better brand) who have signed a new two-year contract for the management and operation of leisure facilities and programmes across the borough.

Councillor Sarah Gallagher, Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Culture, expressed the Council's vision: "We aim for our leisure centres to be more than just spaces for exercise; they should serve as community hubs fostering health, friendships, and shared experiences for everyone."

Highlighting GLL's role as a charitable social enterprise operating under the 'Better' brand, she added, "GLL is a trusted national leisure services operator with extensive experience in delivering activities in an affordable and accessible manner. I'm thrilled to witness the reopening and we are continuing to work to improve sites."

Anticipating positive developments, she shared, "Exciting plans are in store for our centres. Customers will initially observe the introduction of 'Better' branding in all the locations, signalling just the beginning of positive changes."

Gillan Kelly, Partnership Manager for GLL said: "We welcome Bedford customers and staff into the GLL family and offer them a warm welcome in centres.
