PlayFootball joins GLL Sport Foundation as valued sponsor

Pitch booking solutions company PlayFootball have been confirmed as the latest sponsor for the UK's largest independent athlete support programme - the GLL Sport Foundation.

Guildford-based PlayFootball have managed GLL’s all-weather pitches since 2018, currently servicing nearly 1m player visits per annum.  Their partnership aligns strongly with cooperative charitable social enterprise GLL's health and wellbeing ethos - keeping local communities active, with more people playing more often.

PlayFootball's sponsorship will commence on 1 April 2025.

The GLL Sport Foundation (GSF) - currently in its 17th year - has supported over 28,000 athlete awards worth over £15m,  including free health and activity memberships giving access to over 300 sport and leisure facilities across the UK.

The support has been described as a 'lifeline' for young athletes as the costs of training and competing rise, enabling thousands of hopefuls to reach their dreams of sporting success.  88% of athletes receive no other form of funding and most are under 21 years old.

Current GSF Ambassadors include Joe Clarke, Kimberley Woods, Tulley Kerney, Louise Fiddes, Lilah Fear and Lewis Gibson and amongst GSF alumni are Tom Daley, Ellie Simmonds, Daryl Neita and Anthony Joshua.

Peter Bundey, Chair of the GLL Sport Foundation said:

"We are excited to welcome PlayFootball joining our valued sponsors of the GLL Sport Foundation.

"As partners in sport, we are closely aligned on the outcomes we want to see around increasing physical activity at community level and spreading opportunity.

"We look forward to sharing the success of our talented athletes with them in the years ahead."

Steve Bennett, Chief Commercial Officer at PlayFootball said:

“We are proud, longstanding partners of GLL, providing specialist management services to optimise social impact and community participation levels on their outdoor sports pitches. Something we have successfully delivered for many years.

"We share the common passion to positively contribute to grassroots sport and have been long-term admirers of GLL’s Sport Foundation.  We are delighted to be able to support the programme with this new sponsorship.”
