Better Summer Open Days Go Swimmingly

Charitable leisure social enterprise GLL – which operate facilities in partnership with 50 local authorities under the ‘Better’ brand – have revealed over 100,000 people attended its free Open Days 20-21 July.

As schools broke up for the summer, Better rolled out the red carpet at 240 leisure centres and 120 libraries to banish boredom and provide much needed support to local communities in what was thought to be the UK’s biggest summer leisure celebration of its kind.

Customers could choose from free gym and fitness classes, yoga, swimming, ice skating, tennis, pickleball and more.

Over 40,000 took part in a free swim and over 5,000 attended kids play parks.

Joe Rham, GLL Customer & Communities Director said:

“We were delighted to welcome over 100,000 customers through the doors during our Summer Open Days.

“It was a great way to kick off the holidays and get people to try something new.

“We have a busy summer ahead with lots more affordable, family-friendly activities to enjoy – whatever the weather.
