About Us

Established in 1993, GLL is a Charitable Social Enterprise and Workers Cooperative.

We operate over 240 Leisure Centres, 120 Libraries and 15 Children's Centres in partnership with 60 local Councils, public agencies and sporting organisations.

We welcome over 57 million visitors a year, generating over £445m in social value as we strive to help as many people as possible lead healthier, happier and longer lives.

Our Corporate Plan

In a changing world, our aims and aspirations for the future are regularly reviewed and updated to ensure we meet the needs of our customers and partners.

Our corporate plan showcases our purpose, values, and ambitious future innovations.

Partnering with cross-industry organisations and thought leaders, we aim to shape a progressive, resilient and inclusive future for leisure, libraries, culture, sport, health and public services.

Being a charitable social enterprise

Social Enterprises are businesses that are changing the world for the better. GLL is immensely proud to be the UK's leading leisure and cultural services Social Enterprise since 1993.

A staff-owned, not-for-profit organisation, GLL is here for the good of the community. We don’t have shareholders like private companies, or any bonuses to pay out. Instead, we invest any surplus money we make back into our services.

Since 1993, we’ve been able to reinvest over £100 million back into sport, leisure and culture.
